Job Description

The Information Governance Compliance Manager is an attorney with responsibility for advising on a variety of information governance issues to ensure the firm’s management of information meets applicable legal, ethical, security and privacy requirements in all jurisdictions the firm operates. S/he is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining firm-wide and departmental policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines related to records and information management, information security, data privacy and other information governance issues. S/he is responsible for managing the members of the Information Governance Compliance team. The Manager will provide guidance and advice to all Managers, Supervisors, Attorneys, and Staff regarding information governance policies and functions of the firm.

Primary Responsibilities:

Managing the global operations of the Information Governance Compliance team

Supervising, training, coaching, and leading team members in their professional development

Ensuring the goals and objectives of the team are met; leading team toward accurate and timely completion of assignments and responses to inquiries; ensuring that all tasks and duties are completed within the firm’s set guidelines and policies

Supervising work flow and daily functions of the Information Governance Compliance team

Managing preservation, collection, processing, review and production of firm documents and electronically stored information, including development of procedures and technologies for a streamlined, cost-effective electronic discovery program

Overseeing the daily operation and maintenance of the firm’s internal electronic discovery process and training programs

Working with members of the litigation team on discovery requests and responses requiring the production of information, including preparing custodians of records and other witnesses

Providing internal pre-litigation data management and litigation readiness counseling, including company-wide training on litigation hold procedures

Coordinating the collection of data for responses to discovery requests and file release requests; coordinating the destruction of data in response to protective orders and agreements with other parties, as well as at the end of the applicable retention periods

Advising on security and privacy issues, including assisting with the evaluation of new applications and services

Developing internal policies, procedures, guidelines and best practices with respect to information governance issues, including records, security and privacy issues

Communicating and explaining legal and technical concepts to staff to ensure correct internal discovery and information governance processes are followed

Identifying risk factors affecting the internal discovery process and consulting on firm-wide procedures to minimize firm liability

Keeping abreast of new technologies; reviewing appropriate periodicals and journals; working with leadership to assess training and development needs

Primary Requirements:

JD degree is required.

Admission to at least one US State Bar is required.

4 years of litigation or related practice experience is desired.

3 years of supervisory experience is preferred.

Experience with electronic discovery or records management issues is desired.

Moderate travel is required of this position.
