  • Overview

    Sr. Project managers are required to provide leadership for front line field supervisors and office staff on multiple projects for multiple clients. Sr. Project managers are required to effectively balance customer needs, field force needs and office support staff needs while still maintaining a long range vision of their projects. Sr. Project managers also provide leadership and assistance to other project managers in the company and act as role models for others to follow.


    Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

    Customer Service

    • Respond to customer needs in a timely manner- Same Day response either by phone or email.
    • Solve a clients problem or get them with someone who can
    • Promote the company at all times
    • Keep constant contact with current clients and watch for future opportunities
    • Provide a quality project at the best value possible

    Labor Management

    • CTC and “ Work in process” Budget
    • Scheduling and weekly schedule updates in ERP
    • Manage Construction Kickoff meeting using Project Brief
    • Risk Development Plan
    • SIS- Short Interval Schedules
      • Enforce the weekly development of SIS’s by foremen on all projects
      • Review SIS’s weekly with foremen and verify labor units match Risk Detail
    • Long Lead material procurement
    • All project Documentation requirements
    • Identify problems using Issue management
    • Change Order estimating and Management


    • Participate in weekly manpower meetings
    • Provide accurate weekly projections of manpower
      • Based on PMP’s
    • Manage foremen and communicate issues to HR
    • Manage field force and communicate issues to HR
    • Make manpower calls

    Material Management

    • Coordinate major buyouts for projects with Sales and SCM
    • Review Submittals
    • Release of major materials using long lead item procurement
    • Subcontractor management

    Management of support staff

    • Manage day to day tasks of staff
      • PE – See individual Job Descriptions
    • Provide direction and leadership for your team

    Day to Day Operations

    • Change Order estimating and management
    • Job site risk management
      • Security on jobsite
      • Safety meetings and safe work practices
    • Quality control
    • Code enforcement
    • Telecom, Fire Alarm and other Specialty systems
    • Claims and notice of delay
    • Manage warranty calls with assistance from quality assurance manager and service manager
    • Contract review
    • Utility coordination
    • Post Job closeout reviews

    Coordination with other departments

    • Estimating
      • Coordinate with estimating for design build and hard bid estimates
    • Engineering
      • Get involved up front and set direction of design based on the Sales scope and budget
      • Provide information and feedback on D/B projects during design through issue management
    • Accounting
      • Review and maintain Job cost
      • Billings
      • Monitor lien “time” durations
      • Direct when to lien or do a “stop notice”
      • Key factor review
    • Human Resources
      • Assist with development of Foremen

    Secondary responsibilities include but are not limited to:


    • Disciplinary reports
    • Maintain manpower report and note corrections daily

    Director of Operations

    • Coordinate with Director of Operations and assist in the development of the construction schedules
    • Utilize Director of Operations for construction kickoff
    • Use Director of Operations, Engineering and detailing for technical support on projects

    Material Management

    • Tracking of major long lead materials
    • Monitor project purchasing
    • Rental management

    Management of support staff

    • Employee reviews
    • Disciplinary reports
    • Manage vacations and overtime
    • Provide support and training as necessary

    Vendor management

    • Maintain positive vendor relations
    • Oversee PE and vendor relations

    Day to Day Operations

    • Review Time
      • Monitor and approve Overtime
    • Miscellaneous material management and releases
    • Review job Journals
    • Monitor Foremen phone usage
    • Monitor Foremen vehicle usage
    • Travel pay determination
    • Project close out and Archives
    • Employee recognition
    • Review and maintain accurate change order logs
    • O & M’s / Asbuilts
    • Assist in Foreman bonus determination
    • Foreman classification determination

    Coordination with other departments

    • Estimating
      • Provide info on material pricing where required
    • Accounting
      • Assist with payroll needs
      • Invoice approval
      • Job Audits of materials
      • Reconciliations
      • Retention management
      • Maintain schedule of values
      • Change order Breakdowns
      • Aging and Receivables
    • Warehouse
      • Tool coordination
      • Vehicle coordination
      • Delivery Schedule coordination
      • Prefab/manufacturing coordination
    • Service and Maintenance
      • Assist in the turnover of completed projects
      • Coordination with Quality assurance manager
    • Human Resources
      • Assist with the development of field employees
      • Disciplinary action where necessary
      • Reviews of staff
      • Assist with training where required
      • Attend appropriate training as required
      • Coordination with Safety and Risk manager
      • Coordination with Safety and training manager


    Include, but are not limited to the following:

    Must have:

    • Minimum 15 years in electrical commercial industry
    • Minimum 5 years supervisory experience
    • Strong knowledge of electrical systems and their components
    • Strong computer skills and experience with basic computer programs (Word, Excel, Microsoft AX, Microsoft Project, etc)
    • Strong in math and deductive reasoning
    • Strong letter writing skills
    • Ability to multi-task and take direction
    • Ability to motivate and train other managers


    • Minimum 10 years project management experience
    • Experience in contract negotiations
    • Self motivated and self starter
    • Good listener
    • Communicate ideas and instructions clearly
    • Work well in a team environment
    • Well organized and thorough
