Title: Electrical Journeyman
Reports to: Construction Superintendent
Location: Southern California

The Electrician reports indirectly to the onsite Electrical Foreman and direct to the Construction Superintendent or Construction Manager and is responsible for efficiently installing the electrical portion of small, medium, or large scale commercial ground, roof, carport, or shade structure solar electric systems while maintaining safety compliance and a quality installation.
Our ideal Electrical Journeyman will
•Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, protocols, and training requirements.
•Inform Electrical Foreman and Construction Superintendent/Manager if you observe yourself, co-workers, or other contractor employees in an unsafe condition or performing an unsafe act
•Install all work in a professional and workman-like manner, adhering to the construction plans, construction details, and maintaining quality assurance and control in all work installed
•Communicate to the Electrical Foreman and Construction Superintendent/Manager potential problems encountered during construction that would affect the schedule or require added materials to be procured
•Work with and safely operate all hand, power, powder-actuated, and hydraulic tools and equipment in the performance of the electrical installation (conduit benders, threading machines, drills, saws, etc.)
•Install the AC and DC electrical sections of solar electric systems, including installation of all conduit racking/supports; conduit and wiring systems/methods above and below ground (including understanding and installing correctly conduit and wire to deal with expansion & contraction); equipment pad layouts and form-ups, electrical equipment (transformers, switchgear/boards, panelboards, disconnects, motors, generators, battery storage system, PV modules, etc.) and enclosures (junction/pull boxes, cabinets, etc.); material handling/loading; wire pulling/dressing/terminating; understanding DC electrical systems and configure DC strings/homeruns; conductor/equipment testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning; temporary power; and other electrical items relevant to the NEC
•Work on standard low voltage electrical systems (including low voltage data monitoring) up to 600VAC or 1500VDC
•Work on de-energized electrical equipment only unless trained, authorized, and permitted under the approval of an Energized Electrical Work Permit
•If properly trained and authorized by REC Solar, aid in the installation of non-energized medium voltage equipment, conduit, and wire (up to 35kV) under the supervision of a trained Electrical Foreman/Superintendent authorized to perform medium voltage equipment, conduit, and wire installation (up to 35kV). No commercial employee is permitted to perform medium voltage splicing or terminating unless trained (certified) and authorized by REC Solar
•Install all work in a productive manner tracking time and quantity of material installed via Unit Reporting methods
•Review plan-set and fully understand all electrical aspects of project
•Gain understanding, knowledge, and efficient decision making when it comes to the mechanical portion of the solar installation
•Provide clear, detailed, and accurate instructions to workers
•Plan tasks thoroughly, accurately, and timely
•Ensure that all tools & equipment used by the electrical work-force is used properly and that employees are trained to use specific tools
•Provide daily quality control inspections on work-forces daily installed material
•Follow instruction of onsite Electrical Foreman, Construction Superintendent/Manager and speak up when questions arise
•Willingness to obtain licenses in other states
What you’ll need in order to succeed
•High School Diploma or equivalent
•Four years of commercial electrical experience
•Certifications/Licenses/Experience (Applicable to the State you work in)
oYou must have a certification/license in the state that you are working in that classifies you to perform commercial/industrial work (i.e.: CA = General Electrical Journeyman [GJE], or HI = Electrical Journeyman [EJ]). This certification must be kept current at all times and you are responsible for all costs associated with keeping your certification/license current.
oIn states that don’t have a journeyman certification you must have a minimum of at least 4 continuous years (~8000hr on-the-job hours) of commercial electrical experience
•Knowledge of electrical and general construction, NEC
•Maintain a high attention to detail and quality
•Work at heights and use personal protective equipment
•Physically able to perform all tasks related to installation
•Math ability in relation to electrical calculations (NEC: de-rates, wire sizing, conduit/box fill, etc...)
•Exposure to mechanical, electrical and/or other hazards
•Valid state Driver’s license with clean MVR
•Must have clean background check and drug test
