Teacher, Special Ed
at New Haven Youth & Family Services
We are a non-public school located in Vista, CA. Teachers are salaried and work year-round with vacation time coinciding with the periods that school is out (about 5 weeks per year). We offer a good compensation package with benefits and a unique, professional hands-on environment working with a team focused on creating change in behaviors as well as providing career options and a good educational foundation to assist youth. Our teachers design, develop, document and deliver appropriate programs to individualized instruction to students within the school setting. Students may reside in our group homes or be day students from area districts needing more special education services and/or structure that can respond and assist with difficult behaviors. Enrollment length fluctuates significantly and each teacher must respond to student learning needs individually, fulfilling grade level and district requirements, and assisting with IEPs (coordinated by support personnel). Additionally, our teachers are involved in all related activities that establish and reinforce acceptable student behavior, progress, attitudes, and social skills where success is the major objective (including, but not limited to, coordinating and providing therapeutic special education services which models New Haven's core value and program standards). Apply through the link below or to our email address. If you are unable to apply electronically, please email to request a paper application. REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must hold or be eligible for a CA Education Specialist Instruction Credential with authorization to teach students with mild/moderate disabilities. Prior teaching experience with adolescents in a similar setting desired. Teachers may participate in physical interventions, when necessary. In addition to holding the appropriate credential to teach, candidates must clear background fingerprint checks, pass a physical assessment (including functional abilities and drug screening), and demonstrate a driving record acceptable to our insurer (teachers my drive youth in company vehicles). New Haven Youth & Family Services is an EOE F/M/Disabled/Vet employer.
