The Scoop:

The Database Analyst performs database and software life-cycle activities to ensure highest level of system performance and availability in compliance with business requirements. This position partners with other Information Technology team members to accomplish planning, implementation and maintenance of database related infrastructure for legacy and new business application systems.  This position is responsible for maintaining the integrity, security and availability of multiple database(s). Other key job duties include disaster recovery, performance analysis and tuning, index maintenance and monitoring of data.

  • Design, development, design patterns, and complete application development lifecycle

What You Need:

Education and/or Experience                                                  

For consideration, candidates will need a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience) along with eight (8) to twelve (12) plus years’ related experience.

Computer Skills - Must possess solid skills in the following areas:

  • Multiple programming languages and systems including those currently used in industry
  • Oracle programming and databases, C, Pro C, SQL, PL/SQL, as well as a solid understanding of latest technologies and programming languages
  • Thorough knowledge of software methodologies, distributed networking, databases, and multiprocessing applications
  • MedImpact’s legacy systems knowledge (preferred)
  • Hardware architecture, disk arrays, drives and hardware capacity requirements
  • Oracle relational database architecture, design and maintenance
  • Scripting tools including: AWK, KornShell (ksh), and PERL among others
  • Unix, Linux and AIX operating systems
  • Design, development, design patterns, and complete application development lifecycle
  • Database interfacing and relational database management systems (RDBMS such as Oracle or similar)
  • Oracle Clusterware and Automated Storage Management (Oracle ASM)
  • High Availability and disaster recovery technologies including Oracle Data Guard, Golden Gate, Dell SharePlex or similar

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • None required, but any of the following certifications are a plus:
  • Oracle Certified Expert
  • Oracle Certified Professional
  • Oracle Certified Associate
  • Oracle Certified Master

Other Skills and Abilities                                                           

  • Ability to work independently under limited supervision and as a cohesive team member with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Good verbal, written communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent organizational, attention to detail, and follow-up skills
  • Must be available for on-call work after-hours and weekend work as needed


This position may require domestic travel as well as attendance at various local conferences and meetings.
