Associate - Financial Advisory Services (Dispute & Financial Expert Opinions)
at Houlihan Lokey Howard & Zukin
Financial Advisory Services
Over the past 40 years, Houlihan Lokey has established one of the largest worldwide financial advisory practices. Our transaction expertise and leadership in the field of valuation inspire confidence in the financial executives, boards of directors, special committees, retained counsel, investors, and business owners we serve. In 2017, Thomson Reuters ranked us the No. 1 U.S. M&A fairness opinion advisor over the past 20 years.
Our stability, integrity, technical leadership, and global capabilities make us a trusted advisor for clients worldwide, across a wide range of services, including Transaction Opinions, Transaction Advisory Services, Tax & Financial Reporting Valuation, Portfolio Valuation & Fund Advisory Services, Real Estate Valuation & Advisory Services, Dispute Resolution Consulting, and Tech+IP Advisory.
An experienced Associate position is available in FAS’ Dispute Resolution and Financial Expert Opinions practice. Associates in our FAS business play a key role on our engagement teams, which typically comprise at least one Managing Director, Vice President, Associate and one or more Financial Analysts. As an Associate in our Dispute Resolution practice, your primary activities will include daily management of Financial Analyst teams as well as constructing and reviewing valuation, lost profits/business damages, and other financial models; performing financial-statement, industry and other quantitative and qualitative assessments; attending due diligence meetings; communicating with clients; designing and drafting deliverables; presenting analyses and conclusions internally to review committees as well as possible external presentations to our clients’ senior management, Boards of Directors, and retained counsel; directing the efforts of Financial Analysts; and assisting with sales, marketing and research initiatives.
Qualified candidates will have additional accountability for development of project approach, oversight, methodologies, and analytical frameworks, and have incremental client visibility and responsibilities including business development.
Houlihan Lokey offers an aggressive, entrepreneurial work environment and, as such, rewards Associates with substantial responsibility. The ideal candidate is motivated, highly collaborative, creative, outgoing, and possesses strong financial analysis skills. Candidates must have a strong knowledge of accounting and applied financial theory, keen analytical capabilities, and excellent verbal and written communications skills. Additional coursework in accounting and finance is highly recommended.
Candidates should have a minimum of four years of post-MBA finance, accounting or valuation experience, including practical experience in lost profits/business damages analyses. Candidates who have worked in a Big Four environment in valuation/dispute practices or a national litigation firm as a manager or higher are preferred. Because this position requires prior relevant work experience, recent MBA graduates may not be qualified.
An officer level opportunity may be considered for those candidates who have a proven record of sustained business development activities in addition to solid technical and management skills.
