The Laundry Attendant collects, transports, sorts, weighs, and counts laundry; operates laundry equipment; and undertakes other duties, as required. Receives soiled laundry in bins delivered by laundry truck; sorts laundry according to type and weighs laundry to insure proper load level for washing machines and records poundage. Transports laundry between various laundry operations; may operate washers, extractors, conditioners, flatwork ironers, and pressers; sorts and counts finished laundry and delivers to appropriate storage areas. Keeps laundry machinery and area clean by dusting, sweeping, mopping, and wiping; may be required to instruct trustees or juveniles in laundry techniques. May be required to make minor repairs to clothing or linen items. Complies at all times with company safety policies and procedures. Sorts/separates incoming soiled laundry by color, style and type, identifying damaged and abused from normal wear and tear. Feeds or receives clean linen textiles when operating the irons. Assists production supervisors when needed. Sets all work priorities with the approval of laundry management or supervision. In the absence of a laundry supervisor will report directly to Laundry Management. Undertakes additional duties as assigned by a supervisor.

  • Past laundry experience is preferred but not necessary, will train the right person.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
