Eurofins Discovery is searching for a Director of Finance in St. Charles, MO or San Diego, CA. This position is responsible for financial analysis, controlling, reporting, scheduling, and managing of operational projects as well as supporting the Sr. VP of the global division in routine and special projects with some chief of staff responsibilities. The successful candidate will be ready for the next step in their career with experience in budget management, financial analysis and reporting, forecasting, accounts payable, accounts receivable and with prior managerial experience of finance and accounting teams.
Director of Finance responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Overall management of the financial operations of the organization, including planning, organizing, and controlling the financial resources
Manage the financial resources of the company and conduct resource planning for future needs
Lead the Annual Business Planning Process and develop the annual and long term plan and implement
In collaboration with Operations, develop tools for project based costing and provide analysis
Ensure key financial metrics (i.e. working capital, DSO, etc.) are met by each of the entities and the business overall; provide corrective actions as needed
Oversee, compile, and analyze financial reporting packages for special projects and monthly business reviews
Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
Preparation of the financial budget and interaction with corporate finance and boards relative to process and approval
Oversee business performance and implementation of plans to improve the performance of the overall business and individual entities
Coordinate with the management of other departments and in the organization that are directly or indirectly associated with the finance department
Ensure adherence to Eurofins financial policies, rules, and regulations
Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing financial reports, and advising management on needed actions
Manage the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities of accounts payable, cash disbursements, invoicing/billing, customer credits and collections, perpetual inventory integrity, fixed asset records, and general & entity accounting
Demonstrate and promote the company vision
Regular attendance and punctuality
Apply GMP/GLP in all areas of responsibility, as appropriate
Conduct all activities in a safe and efficient manner
Perform other duties as assigned
Own the accountability and responsibility of delivering to client needs and timeliness
Provide cross-functional support to other departments as required
Adjust work hours as needed to meet client deadlines
Adhere to site environmental health and safety (EHS) requirements
The ideal candidate would possess:
Preferred CPA and/or CMA Certification
MBA with focus in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
Managing Processes, Financial Software, Developing Standards, Audit, Accounting, Corporate Finance, Tracking Budget Expenses, Financial Skills, Analyzing Information, Developing Budgets, Performance Management
Strong scheduling and project oversight experience
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent computer, scientific, and organizational skills
Experience in Microsoft Office Suite, including strong Excel skills
Excellent communication (oral and written) and attention to detail, specifically as it relates to monthly reporting on financial results as they relate to business performance and KPIs
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude
Ability to learn and understand detailed processes- standard group requirements
Process improvement and process documentation experience
Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies
Basic Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
7 years of experience in Accounting / Finance role
2 years’ direct finance and financial planning experience
Prior managerial experience of a finance and/or accounting team required
Hands on experience with ERP systems
Bachelor's degree in business or finance, or other related degree concentration, MBA preferred
Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
Position is full-time, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., with overtime as needed. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance or willing to relocate to San Diego California or St. Charles, MO are encouraged to apply.
