Neighborhood Healthcare is seeking a Part Time Registered Dental Assistant to work at our dental clinic in Escondido . This position is Part Time (6 hours per week). Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.

Summary: Under the direction of the Dental Director, provide office support services that function in a manner to permit dental care to be provided with optimal efficiency, quality and patient satisfaction. Serve as a contact between NHcare and the community, participating in preventative health education activities in the community. Saturday 8am-2pm.
Essential Duties/ Responsibilities: 1. Perform procedures under the direct supervision of a licensed dentist when done so pursuant to the order, control and full professional responsibility of the supervisory dentist, with procedures checked and approved by the supervising dentist prior to dismissal of the patient from the office.
2. Fabricate temporary crowns and stainless steel crowns.
3. Perform coronal polishing.
4. Assist Dentist in endodontic procedures.
5. Chart existing and obvious lesions.
6. Perform all supportive dental procedures allowable as a CDA or RDA for general practice, four-handed dentistry.
7. Impart preventive health education information and techniques to patients.
8. Remove excess cement from supragingual surfaces of teeth with a hand instrument or floss.
9. Contribute to the success of NHcare by participating in quality improvements activities.
10. Display knowledge of normal signs of human development and ability to assess and provide age appropriate care.
11. Serve as a contact between NHcare and the community, participating in preventative health education activities in the community as requested by the Dental Manager.
12. Other duties as assigned.

Safety: 1. Maintain current knowledge of policies and procedures as they relate to safe work practices.
2. Follow all safety procedures and report unsafe conditions.
3. Use appropriate body mechanics to ensure an injury free environment.
4. Be familiar with location of nearest fire extinguisher and emergency exits.
5. Follow all infection control procedures including blood-borne pathogen protocols
HIPAA/Compliance:
1. Maintain privacy of all patient, employee and volunteer information and access such information only on a need to know basis for business purposes.
2. Comply with all regulations regarding corporate integrity and security obligations. Reports unethical, fraudulent or unlawful behavior or activity.
Qualifications:
Skills: Effective ability to relate to and work with persons of all ages, social and ethnic backgrounds. Ability to maintain patient confidentiality. Ability to operate computer data terminals or willingness to be trained. Bilingual (Spanish/English) required. Work independently and take initiative.
Knowledge and Education: Registered Dental Assistant Certificate, Current CPR Certification required. X-Ray license required.
Experience: Minimum of two years experience working with pediatrics required.
