Neighborhood Healthcare is seeking a Part Time Program Specialist/Outreach Worker to work at our clinic in El Cajon. This position is Part Time (16 hours per week). Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.

Summary: Under the direction of the Director of Operations, the Outreach Program Specialist will be responsible for one-on-one outreach and community presentations in East County San Diego. The position is responsible for conducting educational presentations related to family planning, STD and HIV prevention and providing information about all programs and resources available through NH Care. The Program Specialist/Outreach Worker will also conduct outreach at local health fairs, community events, community meetings and within the health centers in the East County area. Must understand and comply with goals and objectives in the grant contract and maintain data on outreach efforts. Develop links with other community-based organizations and institutions.

Essential Duties/ Responsibilities:
1. Successfully complete course and obtain a Family Planning Health Worker Certificate
2. Must thoroughly understand clinic services and resources and be able to explain to the community.
3. Conduct one on one-outreach activities at appropriate locations in the community.
4. Establish relationships with appropriate community agencies and set up educational presentations on Family Planning, STD and HIV prevention.
5. Conduct presentations as scheduled and collect data as needed.
6. Attend community events such as health fairs to disseminate program information and educational materials.
7. Assist in identifying and establishing relationships with managers of other community based organizations that predominantly serve the target audience within the geographic service area.
8. Be able to articulate goals of the project.
9. Refer media inquiries to Administration.
10. Attend community meetings and trainings.
11. Attend clinic staff meetings to insure integration of project with clinic services.
12. Complete program reports as required by the grant.
13. Respond promptly and with respect to clients. Acknowledge psychosocial, spiritual and cultural beliefs and honor these beliefs.
14. Maintain professional working relationships with all levels of staff, clients and the public.
15. Other duties as assigned.

1. Display knowledge of normal signs of human development and ability to assess and provide age appropriate care.
2. Contribute to the success of the organization by participating in quality improvement activities

1. Respond promptly and with respect to patients and employees. Acknowledge psychosocial, spiritual and cultural beliefs and honor these beliefs.
2. Maintain professional working relationships with all levels of staff, clients, and the public.
3. Be part of a team and cooperate in accomplishing department goals and objectives.

Safety:
1. Maintain current knowledge of policies and procedures as they relate to safe work practices.
2. Follow all safety procedures and report unsafe conditions.
3. Use appropriate body mechanics to ensure an injury free environment.
4. Be familiar with location of nearest fire extinguisher and emergency exits.
5. Follow all infection control procedures including blood-borne pathogen protocols

HIPAA/Compliance:
1. Maintain privacy of all patient, employee and volunteer information and access such information only on a need to know basis for business purposes.
2. Comply with all regulations regarding corporate integrity and security obligations. Report all behaviors and/or activities that are unethical, fraudulent, or unlawful.

Qualifications:
Skills: Bilingual (English/ Spanish) required. Must be willing to obtain a certification for Family Planning Health Worker. Knowledge of health care and social services in the community preferred. Must possess initiative and ability to work independently. Ability to work in stressful situations and interact courteously and effectively with the public and other staff. Ability to collect, maintain data and complete program reports.

Education: High school diploma/ GED required.

Experience: One year experience in community programs or customer service required.

Other: Must have reliable transportation, CA driver‚s license and proof of insurance.
