SUMMARY: The position of Project Engineer has been established to assist the Project Managers with coordinating technical and administrative functions in support of projects to ensure that all aspects of project preparation, planning and execution occur in accordance with Baker Electric‚s specified objectives for successful completion of the project.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: The Project Engineer reports directly to the Construction Project Manager (or Director if Applicable)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
In addition to the duties listed below, will perform all duties of Project Management as described in the Construction Project Management Job Description.
* Responsible for the accurate re-count of gear and lighting products for each project assigned. Once completed, reconcile those counts with the Lead Estimator for the project and revise Bill of Materials with lighting Distributor. Review with Project Manager.
* Ensure all lighting and switchgear products are received accurately and on-time to the project site. Ensure Foreman have inspected material deliveries for completeness and correctness. Assist as directed.
* Responsible for timely receipt of Subcontractor submittals, shop drawings, record drawings etc...as detailed in the project construction documents. Ensure submittals are complete, accurate, and are consistent with Baker Electric‚s understanding of the scope at time of bid.
* Responsible for the preparation, submission and tracking of all gear, lighting, and subcontractor submittals and ensuring that all submittals are returned (from Subcontractors and Owners) in a timely manner to avoid impacts to Baker Electric‚s Foreman. Once an approved submittal is returned, ensure that Baker Electric‚s Foreman possesses the approved copies and all unapproved submittals are removed or destroyed.
* Assist in the RFI process as directed and maintain accurate RFI logs.
* Assist in change order preparation as directed.
* Maintain Change Order Logs that reflect accurate change order status that matches Baker Electric‚s Accounting software. Work closely with the Project Manager and Accounting Staff to ensure change orders are current with Accounting System.
* Attend jobsite meetings as directed by the Project Manager.
* Assist Baker Electric Project Coordinator in preparation of subcontracts for Tier Subcontractors based upon project scope, contract documents, and Baker Electric‚s contractual obligations.
* Coordinate Tier-Subcontractor scheduling with Baker Electric Project Foremen. Collaborate with Tier-Subcontractor Representative to ensure Baker Electric scheduling milestones are being met.
* Input Request for Information (RFI) responses into applicable project logs.
* Assist Project Managers and Project Coordinators in the closing of the project by completing portions of the Project Management Close-out Checklist - including, but not limited to; utility service cancellation, O & M submission, panel schedules, and guarantee letters.
* Deliver project documents to job-sites or other places of business as directed by Project Management.
* Perform overtime work, as required and requested by Supervisor to meet department and company needs.
* Perform other duties as assigned by Project Manager.

Skills / Requirements
EDUCATION, SKILL, EXPERIENCE: Successful graduation of Recognized Electrical Apprenticeship Program, related Construction Management Degree or 2 years experience in Electrical Construction or Management. Knowledge of MS applications and construction software is required at an intermediate/advanced level. Valid CA Drivers License required.
