Nesco Resource is currently recruiting for a Director of Program Management for our client in San Jose, CA!

The Program Management Director will direct and manage the tactical cross-functional elements of existing and future development projects. The successful candidate will organize and collaborate with the members of the project team in order to insure proper resources are identified, allocated and aligned to meet the goals of the committed programs. Responsibilities include establishing and ensuring program management objectives are met with an emphasis on delivering programs to committed timelines and budget. She/he must be a motivated self starter, detailed oriented, experienced in managing complex global multidisciplinary programs, customer-driven, and solutions-focused.
Required Skills and Experience

  • Defines overall program management objectives
  • Identifies, communicates and influences corporate strategy and process to support and achieve corporate program management goals
  • Establishes and clearly communicates program management standards, performance goals, project and materials scheduling, process definition and improvements, issue escalation reports, and prepares budget plans for the group
  • Leading tactical aspects of program teams through PLC (Product Life Cycle) process
  • Ensuring readiness in all functional areas prior to release of product
  • Maintaining overall program schedule to identify key handoffs and dependencies (internal & external) to track and report progress
  • Planning cross-functional projects to maximize resource utilization
  • Conducting weekly program team meetings and tracks open actions to closure
  • Providing visibility to senior management on program risk areas to allow for mitigation plans
  • Working with individual managers to identify skill sets and resolving priority conflicts
  • Aiding with overall business process development and helping to drive this across the organization
  • Thorough understanding and experience with Microsoft Project and Office tools required
  • Ability to communicate at multiple levels of detail, from the level of individual contributors through presentations to senior management
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work with all levels of the organization
  • Previous experience successfully running hardware and software product development programs
  • Provides an objective analysis for all program management projects
  • Previous experience in working in multi-site global environment
  • Previous experience in delivering programs to manufacturing at both in-house and contract manufacturing locations
Desired Characteristics
  • Ability to understand complexity of technical and business issues to accurately evaluate schedules and relative costs
  • Understanding process for successful product development and improve process as needed
  • Understanding of telecommunication transport equipment design and design for manufacturability is a plus

Requirements and Qualifications
  • BSEE or related field or equivalent experience. Masters’ preferred.
  • Minimum of 10+ years experience in successfully running a program management team and/or cross-functional product development teams
  • Ability to understand the relative complexity of technical and business issues in order to accurately evaluate the schedules and cost of various elements of the program.
  • Successful track record for program management of hardware and software product development programs from concept and prototype through high volume product manufacturing, distribution, and maintenance
  • Experience identifying and leading successful business efforts
  • Strong organizational and planning skills and excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Proven ability to mentor less experienced program managers
