Cedars-Sinai Medical Care Foundation, an affiliate of Cedars-Sinai Medical Group and a division of the world-class Cedars-Sinai Health System, has an exciting career opportunity for a Pharmacy Support Specialist in our refill center. We are physician directed and committed to providing high quality healthcare in a growing multi-specialty medical group and IPA setting.

The Pharmacy Support Specialist is responsible for supporting the CSMG pharmacists in the daily operations of the Pharmacy Refill Center in the Medical Network. The Pharmacy Support Specialists primary role is to assist the pharmacists and CSMG primary care physicians (and other physicians as directed) in the processing of medication refill requests by preparing the requests for review and approval/denial by the pharmacists working under protocol on behalf of the physicians, and by the physicians themselves. In this capacity, the Pharmacy Support Specialist gathers and prepares information from patient records for pharmacist and/or physician review in determining the appropriateness of medication requests. All duties are performed under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.

Skills / Requirements

Requires high school diploma or equivalent education, 2 years experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail pharmacy or outpatient pharmacy department. Registration as Pharmacy Technician with the California Board of Pharmacy preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and computer proficiency are essential.
