PAYROLL SPECIALIST

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Manager, HR Services, the Payroll Specialist processes payroll for CIM Group and affiliated companies. The Payroll Specialist will also track salary allocations and payroll reimbursements.

Responsibilities:

* Acts as resource expert to CIM staff on questions related to payroll, payroll taxes,
allocations and reimbursements.
* Manages payroll related updates in HR/Payroll database including taxes, direct deposits,
employee self-service access to paystubs/W-2
* Processes involuntary deductions such as levies and garnishments
* Responsible for payroll recordkeeping (payroll reports, timesheets, changes in taxes and
direct deposit) and maintenance of payroll records on HRIS.
* Provides reports used during audits relating to Payroll, 401(k) 5500, and Workers
Compensation.
* Processes single sum payments such as bonuses, auto allowances and relocation
allowances
* Runs benefit accrual (time off balances) reports for reconciliation and General Ledger
* Handles Unemployment Claims and related requests pertaining to salary history

Skills / Requirements

Experience/Education Requirements:

* Minimum of 5 years experience in a Payroll Specialist role
* Bachelors degree required in Business or related field
* CPP preferred, not required
* Ability to read, understand and communicate legal concepts as they apply to Payroll,
Wage and Hour, State and Federal taxes (CIM has employees in multiple states)
* Ability to respond effectively to confidential compensation related inquiries
* Strong problem-solving skills
* Strong understanding of accounting principles as it relates to payroll
* Salary allocation experience across multiple business lines
* Knowledge of and experience with payroll software such as Ultimate Software, ADP,
Paychex including but not limited to employee record maintenance, report writing,
document maintenance and website portal
* Advanced understanding of payroll processing software with experience in implementation a plus
* Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office software including Outlook, Word,
Excel and PowerPoint.
* Real estate or financial services industry experience, a plus
