Since 1969, San Ysidro Health Center (SYHC) has been providing quality, low-cost, primary health care services to South Bay & Central/Southeastern San Diego residents. SYHC offers an extensive array of family-oriented primary health care services, including pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, adult medicine, dental care, mental health, podiatry, radiology, laboratory, and pharmacy. SYHC is dedicated to providing excellence in health care services and programs for all people of all ages - from infants to seniors. We currently have an opening for a Patient Access Representative for our Dental department as well as at our Otay Family Clinic. Please specify which position you are interested in.
Position Summary:
Answer telephones, greets, assists and directs visitors, patients and other clinic office callers. Guides, screens and registers new patients. Assists patients in obtaining services and provides information on funding eligibility. Performs light clerical duties to support the daily business activities of the location.
Essential Functions of the Job
1. Answers telephones, routes callers, takes messages and provides routine information to patients or staff.
2. Schedules appointments in person.
3. Retrieves patients registration information on MegaWest systems, confirms and verifies patients information.
4. Ascertains predetermined pay status and initiates appropriate documentation for processing patient and for billing purposes.
5. Performs the initial screening and registration of all patients.
6. Recognizes need for immediate and urgent services.
7. Answers inquires, assists enrollees/patients to utilize health care delivery system.
8. Obtains, records and analyzes financial information.
9. Renders accurate and timely data entry of all program eligibility and registration information.
10. Request medical records for patients that come in without an appointment.
11. Provides assistance, guidance and direction to visitors and patients. Calls for an escort when necessary.
12. Assists in care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.
13. Accepts and issues receipts for co-payments and payments to balances from patients when indicated.
Skills / Requirements
Education Required (Minimum level of education): High School or equivalent.
Certifications/Licenses Required: CA Driver's License required.
Experience Required: One-year receptionist in medical setting.
Verbal and Written Skills Required to Perform the Job: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
