The Manager of Quality Field Engineering Western Region organization will lead a supplier quality team that provides onsite product validation for hardware destined for Aerospace applications. Primary responsibilities of the position include: managing the supply base from a quality perspective, ensuring audits, surveys and reviews are performed in a timely manner and according to procedural requirements; performing end-item inspection and supplier surveillance to meet program requirements and supplier delivery schedules; interfacing with programs (Engineering, Quality, and program management) to provide rapid response to issues with the supply base performance. The manager may also be called upon to validate Corrective Actions requested by NGAS Quality Engineering and/or support on-going MRB investigations and resolutions.
Skills / Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
Engineering degree or equivalentwith minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience. Functional management experience. Working knowledge of AS9100 and AS9102. Manufacturing engineering experience.
The successful candidate will have: 1) manufacturing floor Quality Engineering experience, be familiar with electrical, mechanical and environmental testing, software related to automatic manufacturing and test operations, and a sound knowledge of Industry and Government Quality and Technical requirements, specifications and standards. 2) Experience with audits, source selection and qualification of product assessment; quality requirements and flow down; manufacturing floor activities and hardware; risk assessment; and a broad range of Industry, and Government technical standards and procedures for Aerospace hardware. 3) The ability to review, comprehend and audit to internal process specifications, perform AS9100, AS9102 and other on-site process audits, issue or review audit reports or supplier's non-conformances as applicable. 4) Experience performing risk analysis, and root cause and corrective action, have a solid knowledge of Materials and Processes and have demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing processes related to the manufacturing processes within their responsibility, including, but not limited to Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), surface finish definition, interpretation of supplier datasheets for dimensions, machining experience, ability to read/use ID/OD micrometers, calipers, height gages, pin and thread gages, and CMMs.
This Manager must have experience interfacing with the various levels of management within a supplier's facility. The Manager shall also travel as required to perform site visits to a variety of suppliers within the Western US geographic region. The Manager must have excellent organizational and communication (written and oral) skills, and ability to develop career and professional development goals for their team.
Preferred Qualifications:
DoD Secret and SSBI clearances.
