Location: California-Redondo Beach

This position is section manager of the Electrical Design Integration B (Civil/DoD) consisting of leading a group of 10-20 engineers responsible for electrical design integration, electrical connectivity and power & signal distribution. The section head reports to the department manager for Integrated Systems Electrical Design. Approximately a quarter of the section head's time will be spent performing leadership, people management, and supervisory duties such as management of personnel (direction & coaching), program/project reviews, coordination of job assignments, staffing, recruiting, developing IRAD and process improvement plans, lab operations, and capital and equipment plans. The balance of the section head's time will be spent supporting flight programs by providing engineering support during design, qualification, manufacturing, integration, test and launch of spacecraft, payload, and propulsion programs. The duties include establishing and reviewing materials and processing requirements, plans, procedures, and documentation. Also included are program support, drawing review, subcontractor process development, qualification & certification, and development & documentation of processing and materials requirements. Travel may be required for this position.

Skills / Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

B.S. Degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related technical field is required. 10 years experience in the field of electrical design integration is required. Excellent verbal, written and team collaboration skills are required. Candidates must demonstrate capability to develop supervisory and personnel management skills. Must be a self-starter, independently directed, with good problem solving skills. Must be able to obtain a DoD security clearance. A candidate must have an understanding of electrical design integration from concept through delivery as well as test and verification requirements for space vehicles. He/she must also have a basic understanding of EVMS and program level scheduling. He/she must be able work independently, including managing day-to-day operations within the section including employee movement and balancing of resources among programs, and resolving critical/urgent program/technical issues.

Preferred Qualifications:

Supervisory experience managing an engineering team or relevant functional management experience is preferred. Current DoD, SSBI clearance and 6-Sigma training are desirable.
