JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direct supervision of an RN/licensed practitioner, the assistants (MA, PCA, and C.N.A) are responsible for providing and documenting nursing care for patients and associated tasks as delegated by the RN/licensed practitioner. It is the role of these assistant employees to partner with RN/licensed practitioner and other team members to provide optimal patient care. These employees follow through with care as directed utilizing established policies, procedures and guidelines. The assistant has the ability to perform all baseline patient care duties under the guidance of a RN/licensed practitioner. The assistant selects appropriate instruments, supplies, toys, and equipment related to the age, developmental level and size of the patient.



Skills / Requirements

Minimum Education:

A Medical Assistant (MA) graduate with at least 6 months of healthcare experience
Or
A Current California Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with at least 6 months of healthcare experience
Or
A current RN/LVN student or graduate of an accredited nursing program that has completed the student pediatric rotation

High School diploma, GED or foreign equivalent

Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers
- certification


Ability to communicate effectively as defined in the job description. Demonstrates CARES model behavior as assessed during the interview screening process. (CARES-Collaborative, Accountable, Respectful, Excellent, and Safe)

Able to communicate effectively during the phone prescreening process; Responds appropriately and effectively to patients, family and employees

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bilingual English/Spanish

- 5 years medical assistance experience, preferably in Dermatology

Strong organizational skills, multi-tasking, and ability to work in a fast paced environment

Experience in a pediatric setting

Advanced knowledge of medical terminology

Students that have completed their nursing pediatric rotation

Experience in an inpatient, outpatient, or long term care setting

Experience with data entry and knowledge of clinical computer systems
