Responsibilities:

The CIS Division of Tyco Electronics, a manufacturer of highly engineered solutions to the automotive, telecommunications, industrial, medical, rail and marine markets is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our Compounding & Tubing team in Menlo Park, California.

We are looking for a hands-on, enthusiastic, positive, team player, open-minded and new challenge seeking Engineer with background in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering. Ideal candidate will need to have a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience in an industrial environment or a Master's degree. Experience in Lean and/or Six-Sigma is a plus.

Requirement:

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

- Support Manufacturing:

- Respond to production issues. Determine the cause of manufacturing defects or failures and take actions to correct and resolve the problems;

- Review, recommend and implement design, process or equipment changes;

- Set-up manufacturing procedures and process instructions.

- Resolve customer's complaints;

- Initiate/manage capital equipment projects. Specify and manage installation and start-up of new manufacturing equipment;

- Scale-up manufacturing processes;

- Analyze yield and process data;

- Create bill-of-materials, routing and manufacturing specifications for new products;

- Document technical and manufacturing information.

- Communicate and collaborate with other departments of TycoElectronics as needed

- Support Continuous Process Improvement/ Cost Savings type projects:

- Provide leadership and direction to individuals and multi-functional teams in identifying, planning and implementing Lean/Six-Sigma initiatives;

- Identifying and implementing key Lean/Six-Sigma metrics, estimating financial impact of projects, providing follow-up, updates and reports to management;

- Providing support of planned events, such as Kaizen;

- Utilizing team-based approach to elicit employee participation in the development of systems that improve the business.

Experience:

- Polymer processing; compounding and/or tubing extrusion. Hands-on experience with internal mixers, twin-screw extruders and/or single screw, single/dual wall tubing extrusion.

- Bachelor of Science in Chemical, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering with 5+ years of experience in an industrial environment or a Master s degree.
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt is a plus.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and encourage cultural change.
- Must have a proven record of achieving cost savings and measurable operational improvements.
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills and be able to communicate at all levels of the organization.
