Sunroad Enterprises/Kearny Pearson Ford and Kia is looking for a collision repair technician who evaluates collision damage and performs body repair on vehicles in compliance with factory and dealership specifications.

Skills / Requirements

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

~Repairs vehicles per estimate and according to manufacturer standards.
~Checks parts against estimate and ensures proper parts are ordered and received. ~Prepares vehicles for body repair work.
~Notifies management of any additional repairs needed.
~Notifies management of any difficulties or problems that may prevent a quality job from being performed or cause a change in the promised time.
~Maintains tools and equipment in a proper state of repair.
~Maintains and wears all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including respirator, in the manner recommended by the equipment manufacturer. ~Complies with all laws and regulations pertaining to paint, thinners, and other hazardous materials.
~Reports any deviations to management.
~Cooperates and assists other personnel in the repair and prepping of vehicles. ~Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations that affect body shop operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc. Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
~Analyzes vehicle damage and working with the estimator to determine the cost of the repair.
~Straightening bent bodies, removing dents and replacing damaged parts that are beyond repair.
~Pulling or knocking out less serious dents, pits and dimples.
~Refinishing metal using a variety of tools, from metal cutting guns and hydraulic jacks to small pneumatic hammers and punches.
~Repairing or replacing plastic body parts, which are used increasingly in modern vehicles.
~Removing damaged panels and identifying the family and properties of the plastic used on the vehicle in order to determine the best method of repair before painting.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
~High school diploma or the equivalent.
~Certifications from Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair (ICAR) or Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) are preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS:
~One to two years of previous experience, though two years of experience in an apprentice program is also recommended.
~It is important for collision repair technicians to have a solid knowledge base of the many functions required in repairing damaged body parts and vehicle bodies. Candidates should be able to interpret vendor products and catalogs.
~A valid drivers license is also important.
~An employee working in the body shop needs to give strong attention to detail and have an interest in automotive repair and technology.
