Responds to emergency incidents when dispatched, evaluates results obtained by subordinate officers, assumes command and directs operations in assigned incident position.

Manages the care and cleaning of facilities, apparatus and equipment, and reports on their condition.

Maintains an effective work environment with subordinates, through verbal and written communications, teaching of job-related classes, continuous employee counseling and disciplinary action as necessary.

Represents the Fire Department and Tribal Government in public appearances and talks on fire suppression, fire prevention and related subjects.

Manages the maintenance of records and reports and develops reports as required.

Participates in development of policies and procedures within the department.

Assists and participates in the development, implementation and direction of training emergency response group.

Evaluates work of subordinates and writes performance appraisals; coordinates support, administrative, and managerial activities as required and directed.

Works in a safe manner and reports unsafe activity and conditions in accordance to the department-wide safety policies and practices.

Adheres to safety prevention, reporting and monitoring as outlined in safety manual.

Supervises leads and directs assigned personnel to include teaching and training subordinates in various aspects of emergency management.

May provide administrative support relating to responsibilities in various areas including budgeting, staffing, equipment and supplies, and relating to their specific incident management position(s) or department activities.

May perform any duty of subordinate personnel, including equipment operation as related to their incident qualifications.

May perform all other duties assigned by Tribal Government and Fire Department.

Skills / Requirements

* High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 3 to 5 years of related experience required

* Wildland and Prescribed Fire Qualification Guide PMS 310-1 (NFES 1414) Certificate required * Valid California Class "C" license required

* 2 years of management/leadership experience required

* Experience with budget preparation and training practices and techniques

* Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

* Knowledge of personal computer and software applications applicable to the position

* Must be able to work independently and make decision under stressful environment
