The Healthcare Economics Consultant designs, develops and analyzes reports to measure utilization, cost data, clinical outcomes, network performance and methodology levers. The Consultant will work with very large data sets from various sources and lead/participate on specific projects from conceptualization to completion. This role will contribute to statistical modeling, utilization and financial reporting. Positions in this function provide data for research and investigation of key business problems through quantitative analyses of utilization and healthcare costs data. This position also provides management with statistical findings and conclusions in support of actuarial, financial and utilization analyses.
Key job responsibilities:
-Anticipates and develops innovative approaches/solutions to proactively meet customer reporting needs
-Develops code for customer specific reporting using SAS, SQL, Access, Excel and other tools
-Execute specifications using SAS, online analytic tools, SQL, etc. to extract and analyze data
-Performs data validation and QA on programs
-Assists in SAS administration with IT
-Serves as a key resource/leader/mentor on complex and/or critical issues on multi-functional workgroups
-Performs complex conceptual analysis
-Reviews the work of others and provides recommendations for improvement
-Produces customer specific reports
-Maintains data for monitoring production statistics
-Screening of data requests to ensure compliance with company policy and government regulations
-Leads functional or segment teams or projects
Skills / Requirements
Required:
-Bachelor's degree in Math, Statistics, Public Health or related field or commensurate experience
-3+ years of work experience in a corporate setting
-3+ years of experience in healthcare, analytics or financial modeling
-Intermediate level of proficiency with SAS
-3+ years SAS programming experience
-Intermediate level of proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, etc.
-Ability to work with others as a leader and a team player
-Independent and self-motivated
-Strong verbal and written communication skills
Preferred:
-Experience working with multiple data sources is desired
-3+ years working with large data sets is desired
-Experience using SQL and/or other statistical programs a plus
