The Healthcare Economics Consultant will be part of the Medical Informatics team that is focused on developing the infrastructure for the reporting for prior authorizations and medical necessity. We would prefer to have the identified candidate located in our Cypress, CA office, however Rockville, MD; Trumbull, CT; or Bothell, WA offices or telecommuting will also be considered for strong candidates.


Primary job responsibilities include:

  • Research and investigate key business problems through quantitative analyses of healthcare utilization, authorization, and eligibility data.

  • Develop and execute data-driven analytical plans for addressing key business questions and operational issues.

  • Perform data extraction, manipulation, cleaning, quality checking, and analysis

  • Interpret findings and prepare materials to clearly communicate analytical findings to management and others in the organization.

  • Use data, statistical methods, and analytical findings to make recommendations for improvements to business processes, operations, and outcomes.

  • Identify potential areas for improvement of health care affordability, health care quality, customer retention, and market share growth.

  • Provide data to support work force management, operations, financial analysis, productivity monitoring, and utilization reporting.

  • Anticipate data needs and develop innovative solutions to meet them

  • Skills / Requirements




    Required:

  • Bachelors degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Bio-Statistics, Economics, Demography, or other social science or quantitative field

  • Minimum of 3 years of SAS programming experience (preferably manipulating healthcare data; SPSS or R can not be substituted for SAS)

  • Minimum of 2 years of data and/or reporting analysis experience (preferably in healthcare)

  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills required

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

  • Demonstrated ability to perform requested tasks with minimal direction

  • Highly organized and able to work well under tight deadlines

  • Must be able to work effectively with others and have good interpersonal skills

  • Experience successfully maintaining multiple projects simultaneously
