Since 1969, San Ysidro Health Center (SYHC) has been providing quality, low-cost, primary health care services to South Bay & Central/Southeastern San Diego residents. SYHC offers an extensive array of family-oriented primary health care services, including pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, adult medicine, dental care, mental health, podiatry, radiology, laboratory, and pharmacy. We encourage all patients to actively participate in promoting and protecting their own health. Toward this goal, SYHC offers a variety of free health education programs.
SYHC is dedicated to providing excellence in health care services and programs for all people of all ages - from infants to seniors. We are currently accepting applications for a Health Information Services Specialist for our Maternal and Child Health Center.
Essential Functions
1. Responsible in scanning the medical information that is required for the referral department to obtain authorization and schedule the appointment for procedures or a specialist.
2. Responsible for retrieving and filing of the medical records for all requests.
3. Responsible for sorting lab reports, correspondence, referrals, etc. and assures it is signed by attending physician before filing in patient‚s record.
4. Inquires in the computer for a medical record number for those lab reports, correspondence, referrals, etc. that do not have a medical record number.
5. Files all incoming reports, e.g., lab, X-Ray, progress notes, hospital reports and miscellaneous reports in the medical record according to the established procedures.
6. Update and maintain the communicable disease log.
7. Maintain the accordion files for reports of patients that do not have a medical record.
8. Assures that all lab reports, correspondence, referrals, etc., are sent out to the satellite clinics, when appropriate.
9. Retrieves miscellaneous and lab reports for providers and nurses upon request.
Skills / Requirements
Required: High School diploma.
Certifications/Licenses Required: Medical Assistant/ Medical Terminology certificate, or CPC.
Bilingual (English/Spanish).
