Graphic Design - Project Manager
The Graphic Design Project Manager's role is to lead all aspects of the Global Sales Development (GSD) team's graphics projects: from concept development/creative to project management to managing external graphic design contractors.
The role is a mix of creative work and managing projects and contractor resources
Typical creative work is varied and changing constantly; designing illustrations that simplify and communicate Oakley product technologies, developing interactive "training game" graphics and materials, business communication graphics/infographics, materials packaging, etc.
GSD projects involve many groups at Oakley and outside the company - from print vendors, designers, production houses, etc. - the Graphic Design Manager will lead all aspects of these projects and relationships
The role will also maintain relationships with a group of consultant designers and farm specific projects out when need dictates due to workload spikes, domain expertise is required, etc.
Role Details:
Understanding, evangelizing, and being the guardian of Oakley, REVO, and Arnette graphic languages and design standards.
Framing creative needs, developing creative briefs with GSD and other business partners/project managers, designing of visual communications, and production & release of printed materials
An important task of the Graphic Design Manager is their ability to properly build, gather and package a graphic project to be handed off to a contract designer or print vendor. All linked images, fonts and final laser proofs must match up to the approved hardcopy before it is released to a print vendor
Designer must be capable of taking lead on determining and allocating the time needed to accomplish each project throughout the day/week/month to ensure that all projects will be completed at the proper time for each phase of the graphic project timeline - including status updates
The graphic designer needs to be able to review and determine if they have all information needed to complete a task. If information is missing, the graphic designer must have the initiative to seek out the missing information from respective partners
A graphic designer needs to be fluent in Adobe Indesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator 3 or higher. Even with this skill set, it is expected that the graphic designer will constantly look at and learn new techniques and software upgrades that will improve their efficiency in creating graphic design.

Highly detailed & organized - hitting deadlines in collaborative environments
Ability to manage multiple projects of varying complexity, using numerous creative vendors over different timelines
Must be able to stay informed of current Oakley portfolio brand campaign looks, maintain brand alignment and communicate often with other creative departments - critical to execute within corporate brand image direction
Experience working with both print & interactive projects
Thorough knowledge of the design process & timelines ranging from concept to completion
5+ years in an agency or in-house department
Ability to work well in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful, but team-oriented environment
Passionate desire to deliver complete, thoughtful, and impactful deliverables; this is not a 9-5 job
Ability to work through ambiguous situations and constantly reprioritize efforts to address things that matter most
Qualifications
Experience developing simple and impactful graphic and physical tools to communicate complex messages
Interest/background in consumer products, action sports and premium brand positioning a plus
Permanent legal right to work in the US on an unrestricted basis
The individual must be highly organized, flexible to changing conditions and be constantly aware of project deadlines independently form project managers reminding them of deadlines.
Proactive ability to communicate clearly with other in their team and when speaking to interdepartmental - members from Creative, Traffic, Asset, Photo studio and Print Production when requesting information and or assets needed to complete a given task.
Graphic application expertise and education: Advanced knowledge in CS3 or higher Indesign, Photoshop, Bridge,Illustrator, Acrobat 8 and Microsoft Office suite for Mac. Proactive ability to seek out information and
technologies that will make yourself more efficient and successful as a production designer.
Qualifications - Nice to haves:
Experience with pre-press color, basic retouching
Experience with Instructional Design, Learning Tools, or Info Graphics
Experience working in the Action Sport Industry
Education:
Bachelors degree in graphics design or related field
