Panasonic currently has an opening for a Graphic Design Intern at our Panasonic Silicon Valley Laboratory (PSVL) located in Cupertino, CA. This is a position for Winter 2012.

Panasonic Silicon Valley Laboratory is leading research in the convergence of audio-video, sensing, and networking technologies to develop the next generation of Panasonic products. The laboratory focuses on enhancing the user experience of existing Panasonic products, through rapid prototyping and collaboration with the best-in-class research in the Silicon Valley.

What We Are Looking For

As part of PSVL, the intern will be responsible for assisting a multi-disciplinary team with the design and prototyping of new product concepts and the related presentation material. The intern will work on a variety of projects, with responsibilities varying from project to project. Tasks might include designing and generating assets for a graphical user interface, developing and illustrating use-cases by means of storyboarding, building low or high fidelity Flash UI mockups, or creating Flash presentation material for the various concepts (to be viewed as a standalone content or as part of a web page). Throughout the internship, the intern will work closely with a team of engineers and designers to ensure that the design follows the project vision and can be incorporated into project prototypes easily.

Qualifications

Required Skills

Recently completed or currently pursuing a degree in Graphic Design, or related fields

Ability to quickly generate and iterate designs, as well as effectively communicate ideas to the team (via sketches, etc)

Experience with the Adobe Creative Suite tools (Photoshop, Illustrator, and/or After Effects)

Demonstrated proficiency in Flash animation and interactive UI development

* Interest in user interfaces and interaction for consumer electronics devices

Able to thrive both within a team and individually

* Creative and out-of-the-box thinking

Desired Skills

Experience with the latest technologies in web presentation languages and tools (AJAX, CSS 2.1, HTML5, WebGL, etc)

Familiarity with Video Editing Tools (Adobe Premiere)

Exposure to Autodesk Maya 3D or other 3D asset creation and editing tools
