Role Description: Our Program Development and Management jobs are vital to our success and are leaders in driving the future growth of Optum Rx. The Director, Pharmacy Program Management is responsible for program planning and execution throughout the product/program development lifecycle, including: gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining the product vision, and working closely with IT, pharmacy operations, sales, marketing and support teams to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met. The Program Management Director's job also includes ensuring that the products developed and programs managed support the company's overall strategy and goals.


Responsibilities:

  • Key leader of cross-functional team focused on managing existing pharmacy products and programs and bringing new innovative products to market that leapfrog the competition and position OptumRx as the clear leader in the field.

  • Ability to turn business strategy into action - drives the discovery, prioritization, design, implementation and go-to-market strategy for new products and management of existing products and programs in a complex, high volume environment.

  • Define the product strategy and roadmap

  • Deliver Marketing Requirements Documents and Product Requirements Documents with prioritized features and corresponding justification

  • Work with external third parties to assess partnerships and licensing opportunities

  • Synthesize customer insights, quantitative and qualitative data, and business strategy into product concepts and requirements

  • Focusing on emerging technologies such as barcode scanning, image recognition, OCR, ePrescribing, voice recognition and mobile applications

  • Manage the product lifecycle's of a full portfolio of products

  • Serves as a product spokesperson to both internal and external audiences.

  • Accountable for product financials and profitability.

  • Gathers competitive market intelligence to influence product design and development

  • Anticipates customer needs and proactively develops solutions to meet them.

  • Identify appropriate target markets for the products. Regularly interact with customers, prospects and industry analysts and conducts surveys to determine market requirements for functionality, packaging and pricing. Develops business plans, including pricing models, revenue projections and associated costs

  • Solves complex problems and develops innovative solutions.

  • Reviews work performed by others and provides recommendations for improvement.

  • Forecasts and plans resource requirements.

  • Authorizes deviations from standards.

  • Motivates and inspires other team members.

    Skills / Requirements


  • Bachelor's Degree in healthcare, science, technology, or Marketing, M.B.A highly preferred

  • 7 years of product/program development management experience within a matrix organization. Healthcare experience highly preferred.

  • Experience bringing new products to market, from concept to implementation

  • Demonstrated exceptional communication, presentation, leadership and influencing skills

  • Strong financial and analytical acumen - experience optimizing productivity, ROI and revenue

  • Demonstrated ability to manage people and prioritize deliverables

  • Proven organizational skills with ability to be flexible and work with ambiguity

  • Pharmacy / PBM industry experience strongly preferred.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Must be able to travel 30% of the time

  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority

  • Proficient in MS Office - high level of proficiency in excel

  • Able to operate in a matrix environment in coordinating people and technical resources from multiple areas of the company
