The Director, Healthcare Economics will serve as the lead position in a newly expanded Healthcare Economics Department. The role will have responsibility for monthly HCE reports, working with Clinical teams in support of Health Care Quality and Affordability Initiatives (HCQAI), and leading analysis of drivers of trends identified in the Monthly Reserve Close process. The position will strategically plan and direct all aspects of Optum's Healthcare Economics analytic processes. This position will directly manage, or via direction, manage approximately 20 staff; supporting five major lines of business across the country.


Key job responsibilities:

-Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a complicated variety of tasks.
-Leads and directs the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
-We expect this leader to drive to greater staff reporting efficiency over the next 1-2 years via report consolidation and standardization.
-Proven skills in creating collaborative approaches across systems, organizational levels, and intersegment work efforts.

Skills / Requirements




Required:



- Bachelor's degree

-10 years of direct experience in the healthcare industry. Familiar with a variety of the industry's concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in a leadership role, specifically a track record in leadership of programs, initiatives and groups of stakeholders towards a common goal.
- Experience in quantitative analyses of utilization and health care cost data

- Demonstrated skill in qualitative and quantitative analysis, presentation, and predictive modeling.

- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills



Preferred:



- Advanced degree

- ASA or FSA actuarial designation
