We are currently seeking a Design Engineer for our Corona, California, location.
The Design Engineer is responsible for generating and managing detailed fire protection system layouts and designs, shop drawings, calculations and product submittal documents from Sales/Estimating through Construction complying with NFPA standards, building codes, and safety regulations.
Skills / Requirements
Responsibilities:
*Design automatic fire sprinkler systems (wet, dry, foam, and fire pumps).
*Compile and prepare plan submittals (shop drawings) and material submittals for review by architects, engineers, clients, and authorities having jurisdiction.
*Coordinate sprinkler design with existing structure and other MEP subcontractors.
*Communicate with Sales, Estimating and other departments to optimize design efficiency for fabrication and installation of systems.
*Perform hydraulic calculations for fire sprinkler systems.
*Detail the design for fabrication and prepare installation drawings.
*Prepare "as-built" drawings for in-house archive and client files.
*Review project updates for change orders.
*Prepare stock lists and material requisitions.
*Perform field surveys for initial drawing layout as well as follow-up for accuracy and coordination.
*Attend internal and external coordination and progress meetings.
*Other job duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
*Strong computer skills.
*Strong analytical and mathematical aptitude.
*Fundamental understanding of general construction methods, practices, and terminology.
*Effective oral and written communication skills.
*Knowledge of project management principles.
*High level of self-discipline, motivation and ability to operate in a team environment.
*Excellent organizational skills
*Must have a valid driver‚s license
Education/Experience:
*Bachelor‚s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Engineering Management or Construction Management; or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
*Minimum 3 years fire protection system layout & calculations
Preferred:
*NICET certification or the ability to obtain.
*Five (5) years experience in fire protection design
*Knowledge of and fluency within AutoCAD, HydraCAD, and/or AutoSPRINK design platforms.
*Experience in 3D Modeling through REVIT or Navisworks
*Familiarity with local and national fire and building codes
*Familiarity with government regulations
