Are you looking for a position where you can use your experience working with youth to work in a school as a turnaround teacher and a behavioral specialist? Are you good at restoring hope with adolescent boys who may be both discouraged and challenging? Are you cool and calm yet effective with handling emotional and/or confrontational situations?
We are looking for candidates for a Monday - Friday day position (7:15 a.m - 3:15 p.m.) in our high school affiliated with our residential treatment program. The position starts in a group home and then transitions into our high school classrooms. You would assist Special Education Teachers and transition to varying classrooms, assisting with student learning and assisting with difficult behavioral issues. New Haven is a CCL residential treatment facility working with adolesent males. This position is a critical support to our non-public school and requires strong behavioral intervention skills. A great opportunity for someone wanting to expand their experience either in the mental health field and/or wishing to gain valuable experience in the Special Education environment. Skills / Requirements
Position requires BA in a behavioral field (Psychology, Socialogy, etc.) and/or Education with strong behavioral intervention skills and experience working with youth, preferably in a like facility. A credential is preferred; however, the willingness to take the CBEST and obtain a sub credential is acceptable. We will require (and pay for) fingerprinting, TB clearance, ProAct training (intervention skills), First Aid/CPR training, and evidence of a good driving record. This position requires the ability to do hands-on interventions and will require a pre-employment physical.
