This individual contributor role provides analytic support and consulting to national inpatient care management leadership on high priority strategic and operational initiatives.

Primary job responsibilities include:


  • Works closely with national clinical services leadership to identify and facilitate best practices for more than 1,400 nurses and non-clinical inpatient utilization management staff

  • Uses statistical analysis of medical claims and inpatient notification data to evaluate the effectiveness of clinical inpatient management programs

  • Develops business plans, economic evaluations and ROI calculations to forecast financial benefits and staffing impact of new business initiatives

  • Works with finance and clinical services to secure budget approval and staffing for inpatient management initiatives

  • Mentors other analytics staff in the department

Skills / Requirements




Required:


  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience

  • 5+ years of forecasting, analysis and reporting experience in a health care environment; background in managed care strongly preferred

  • Clearly demonstrated expertise in problem solving, data management, study design, and study implementation

  • 2+ years experience working with database systems and analytical tools such as SAS or SQL

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact collaboratively with internal customers across multiple departments and business segments

  • Ability to learn quickly and work with minimal supervision

  • Self-motivated to prioritize work on multiple complex assignments with ongoing deadlines



Preferred:

  • Master's degree in Health Administration, Finance, Statistics, Economics, or related field

  • Expertise in statistical modeling and analysis highly desirable

  • Demonstrated success as a team leader or manager
